War Memorials

…… We Will Remember Them
To commemorate one hundred years since the start of the Great War, we set ourselves the goal of finding out as much as we could about the men who are honoured on the Memorial Tablet in Holy Cross Church, Chiseldon.

Some of them are hard to find on census returns, and one - Sydney Noble - is not listed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.  We have few photographs.  We would love to hear from anyone who has any information, or who is related to these young men who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We are also updating our display about Chiseldon Camp
in WW1 and would welcome any information you may have about people who were stationed there or memories from Chiseldon during the Great War.

We have now published a book which contains our information, as well as details of life in the village during and after the Great War.  'Chiseldon and The Great War' can be ordered here.
